Peru Sep 2012 Lima and Paracas

Arose at 1:20 AM on 4 September 2012 and caught taxi to airport to catch 06:20 flight to Lima, arriving at 9:20 AM Peru Time. Paid 50 soles for a taxi to B& B Traditional Guesthouse. Got a warm chatty welcome and was installed in a comfortable room on the first floor. Lobby had a piano and was full of decorative knick knacks.

Wandered out for dinner at Wong's supermarket where there is a buffet on the second floor.
Next morning as instructed, phoned reception and had breakfast delivered to room. How good is that?
Walked out to visit local pyramid site. Lima gets almost no rain. Kerbside gutters are almost non-existent, rain when it comes is only a light drizzle. As a consequence the old mud brick pyramids have lasted for centuries.
Left Lima and my 82 Soles room on a 55 Sole bus South to Caracas, a small town on the coast famous for it's boat trips to bird rookeries.
Stayed at Paracas Backpacker House for 32 Soles. Very rough, flimsy rooms and shared bathrooms. Caught the boat tour the next morning and had a foretaste of the Nazca lines when we passed by this glyph called The Candleabra.
Rocky islands are still farmed for their guano. Seals in the water, penguins on the rocks and countless other sea birds.
In the afternoon, took a bus tour of the adjacent national park Countryside is bone dry desert with almost no vegetation.
