Didn't get far from Lubben, at lunch time under overcast skies, couldn't stop shivering so stopped at a small place called Fehrbellin at 12:30.
Found one of the two hotels in town which was in the former railway station.
Main business was a restaurant but they had rooms upstairs for 35 Euros. The night I stayed was BBQ night so I had a pork steak and a big fat German sausage with bread and a tomato salad. Also had a glass of the house red. When I asked for the bill, the waitress said 3 Euros! Asked if she was sure before I quickly paid and scuttled away before she changed her mind.
Had a long day the next day. Rode to the very North of Germany to a port called Puttgarden where I caught a ferry to one of the Danish islands.
Stopped in a supermarket along the way, the product below had a very apt name;
Countryside in Denmark was flat and featureless with the exception of the wind turbine 'farms'
Skirted around Kobenhavn and crossed via tunnel and bridge to Malmo in Sweden.
Picture from the web.
Eventually stopped after 4PM by a lake at Horby where an expensive campsite charged me 350 Krowns (AUD $58) including an unwanted but necessary camping card.
It was very cold in the early morning and the sun just dipped below the horizon, making the night very bright.
Took off early the next day to Oscarshamn and bought a ticket for the following day's ferry to Visby
Ferry took three hours and after arriving at Visby, the campground was only a ten minute ride South.
The previous evening's temperature convinced me to rent a cabin for E49.50 (AUD75)
Settled in and the following day rode North to Faro and back to Visby.
There are lots of medieval churches from the 13th and 14th century, some intact and many just ruined shells
Stayed two days in perfect sunny but cool weather and caught the early ferry back to the mainland under cold overcast skies. 2 PM was my limit for the day and stopped at Jonkoping.
Thankfully didn't have a sudden meeting with any of these beasts.
