Europe on a Virago Day 23

Came Off today. Had to happen sometime. Rain all day, sometimes very heavy. Road slippery. Got caught by one of the quadrillion roundabouts. Bike moved once about 30 cm sideways and I corrected then it moved again at about 25 km/hour and down I went. Stepped away from the (now horizontal) bike and landed flat on my back. Thanks Dri-rider for the foam armour in the back of my jacket. Lay stunned on the road, luckily it was a quiet spot way out in the countryside. First three vehicles stopped. Got up gingerly and picked the bike up. No damage to bike.
Felt OK and stopped at the first hotel, Hotel Internazionale, 3 stars 45 Euros ($68) including breakfast. Had a hot shower and went to bed at 4pm. Woke up with a sore back so treated it with a meal of mussel soup and sauscitte pizza washed down with half a litre of red wine. Feel GREAT.
Fed up with the rain. Hoping for better weather tomorrow.
Lessons learnt? Don't be too ambitious with your daily distance in wet weather. The roundabout looked normal, I wasn't going too fast. Maybe there was something slippery on the road. (Diesel?)
