Europe on a Virago days 20-22

Left France and headed East into Italy
This was the last view of France before heading over the pass into Italy.
Stopped at Verbania on Lake Maggiore.
Stayed in this palazzo with a nice window view
And plenty of company
Only ten beds per room, at 21 Euros including a nice breakfast. Shared the first night with Luigi, an Italian whose lack of English didn't affect his conversation. The next night being Easter there were eight of us including an English cyclist who was following the same route as me.
The next day was cold, wet and windy, happy not to be riding. Bought a ten Euro ferry ticket to Isola Bella, an island in the lake famed for its palazzo and tiered gardens.
Napolean once stayed here, saw the room where he slept. The palace had grand large bright rooms with high ceilings and large windows. All the floors were marble or granite.
It was certainly worth the extra three Euros to see the inside, outside being so uncomfortable.
The rain happily stopped for a while when I went to the gardens
Next night was spent at Lake Garda, San Benedetto Camping where I had to pack up in the rain
