Felt the rear brakes going but kept going to reach Arles knowing that a few days waiting here would have plenty of distractions. Arrived on Saturday afternoon and ordered the parts which should arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, Monday being a no work day for Moto Shops in France (?).
Stopped for a night enroute at Platanas les Flots in a sandy camping ground with a 100 metre round trip walk to the nearest toilet. Went through the Camargue, an area of the river Rhone delta famous for it's birdlife and wild horses.
Found the cheapest chain hotel in France, Premiere Classe which has rooms for 42 Euros a night with a tiny bathroom and an automatic check in.
Arles on the Rhone was given by Julius Caesar to his legionnaires to reward a victory and has a fine amphi theatre where they have bullfights and an ancient theatre
Vincent Van Gogh painted several of his best known works here and you can walk in his footsteps to stand where he placed his easel.
